I take advantage of nostalgia’s possibilities by sampling both cultural and natural history to create my aesthetic. Allowing our ideas and assumptions about nature and ethnography to combine so to create mythic worlds where new species are discovered and fairy tale dresses can become architecture. I differ from a scientist by playing the trickster in my art practice. I lure viewers with an explorer’s romanticism of the natural world, promising exotic locations and unknown treasures. My “finds” hint at the growing chasm between nature and man.
